  • Kenyan innovator and ecopreneur, Sheryl Mboya, 26, demonstrates the superior structural integrity to hold hot-liquid of one of her innovations, an edible cup, an idea born of her dislike of plastic pollution in Nairobi on March 6, 2026. Christened 'snackuit', the law graduate's patented edible tableware is her answer to single-use plastics pollution and is alot safer for the general environment due to it's biodegradability.Developed under GreenX Telemechanics Limited, a technology and innovation developer whose core objective is to come up with innovative solutions such as Snackuit, that not only address challenges mankind face but also contribute to climate action. • Kemisola Bolarinwa, founder of Nextwear Technology, poses with one of the formative prototypes of her smart bra in Abuja on March 5, 2026. Kemisola Bolarinwa is the founder of Nextwear Technologies. She developed a smart bra called EwaDx, designed to help detect early signs of breast cancer. The idea came from a personal experience with an aunt whom she lost to breast cancer in 2017. During hospital visits at the time she was exposed to painful realities other women go through to get diagnosed and treated. The first prototype was unveiled to the public in 2022, she attached sensors embedded in the bra, the system is designed to detect abnormalities such as breast lumps by measuring changes in blood flow associated with cancerous growth. Her aim is to make early detection more accessible, particularly for women in underserved communities who may have limited access to conventional screening equipment. • This undated handout picture obtained with an atomic force microscopy released by Cell Press on March 6, 2026 shows a Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) with deltavirus (protrusion). Microbes still hold surprises. Researchers have just discovered how tiny viruses slip inside other viruses to penetrate and infect a cell. 'Deltaviruses are transmitted via a viral Trojan horse,' according to a study published on March 6, 2026 in Cell, one of the most prestigious biology journals, led by researchers from the CNRS. • This undated handout picture obtained with a cryo-electron microscopy released by Cell Press on March 6, 2026 shows a "Pregnant" Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) with the protrusion corresponding to the deltavirus. Microbes still hold surprises. Researchers have just discovered how tiny viruses slip inside other viruses to penetrate and infect a cell.
